Demonstrates commitment to future product development and business growth
Densitron, a global leader in display, monitor and embedded computing solutions, has appointed product development authority Dr Alec Reader as Group Technology Director. Currently, chairman of JEMI UK Ltd, the semiconductors supply chain trade association, Reader has a distinguished background in the development, implementation and commercialisation of products based on the application of technologies employed in the production of semiconductors and derived devices.
Reader will be directing Densitron’s product and project management and extensive global research and development, ensuring its innovative, high quality products drive the future success of the company. He will also take on the role of the company’s senior technical authority.

Most recently, Reader has been working in a number of consultancy roles, with particularly note being in the field of Nano-Electronics and opto-electronics, with the Zepler Institute of the University of Southampton, amongst others. He was also the director of the UK Government’s Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network, where he advised government & NGO bodies on many matters, including where financial support should be given for the fast-developing nanotech and advanced semiconductors sectors. During this time he helped start-up and early stage companies in the Nano Technologies (Nano Electronics) business-sector develop and grow into mature enterprises.
Reader was also a founder director and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Innos (which later became Polymer Vision UK), manufacturers of electrophoretic rollable displays for mobile phones. Other notable previous roles include Vice-President and International Business Line Manager for Philips Analytical, Head of Department and Project Leader for Philips at ST-Microelectronics (SGS Thomson) in France and Head of Characterisation, Philips Research Laboratories in The Netherlands.
Reader’s doctorate is in material science from the University of Birmingham. He followed this with a post-doctorate fellowship at the Technical University, Delft. He is currently a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD), the IEEE (US), the IET (UK) and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics.
